Our Founder's Story

A few years ago, I faced a life-changing challenge. After being diagnosed with a heart condition, I underwent open-heart surgery followed by a pacemaker/defibrillator. As someone who always loved being active, the fear of it going off sidelined me from the workouts I once loved. I stopped working out, and slowly, I lost the motivation that once fueled me.

Out of shape and frustrated, I wanted to make a change, but couldn’t find the drive. One day, I came across a study about the power of visible mantras in helping people reach their goals. I started writing my favorites on sticky notes, but let’s be honest, sticky notes and sweat don’t mix. Then came the idea of writing a mantra on my skin with a Sharpie. That’s how MotivInk was born.
